VIRTUAL WORKSHOP

How Will This Workshop Help Me?

These are live, highly interactive online learning experiences designed for those who are newer to the Commercial Lines insurance industry. You will learn coverage fundamentals and industry terms in a fun, collaborative way with a small group of agents and brokers from across the country.

Our goal is to give you a base-level knowledge of these coverages so you can sell and properly advise your clients. Please be aware this series is not designed to teach you about USLI products or guidelines; however, we are happy to provide you with this information outside of the series.

WORKSHOP SESSIONS

Session 1: Show Me the Money! Understanding the Impact of Co-insurance and Its Calculation

Numbers don’t lie, so understanding the numbers is part of our jobs as insurance professionals. Property coverage has many moving parts, and co-insurance (at least 80%) is one of them. In this session, we will take a deeper dive into what co-insurance is and the role it plays in the grand scheme of property coverage. Lastly, we will roll up our sleeves and dig into the math of how to properly calculate co-insurance (bring a calculator).

Duration: 30-60 minutes

Session 2: Sink or Swim With Business Income

Limit selection and valuation for property needs can be complex, and business income coverage needs are no different. This session will focus on the valuation methods of co-insurance, fractions and ALS. In addition, we will review what to consider when guiding your clients in their business income limit and valuation selection, as well as walk through a claim scenario to demonstrate how policy provisions can impact loss payment.

Duration: 30-60 minutes

Session 3: The Value of a Dollar: Actual Cash Value and Replacement Cost

True value is not to be seen, but rather understood. In our final session, we will break down the value of property and how that value should be determined. Our main focus is recognizing the unique differences between Actual Cash Value and Replacement Cost Valuation, but we will also explore what to know when an insured asks you to write a piece of property business.

Duration: 30-60 minutes
